  • Peace and Best Wishes, Happy New Year!

    By Amy | Posted 12/31/2008 | 3 Comments

I consider myself a rather spiritual person though admittingly have my bouts with getting too caught up in the latest drama! These days, though, for me, for you, this country, the universe, there has been a lot to handle, real “stuff” that has shaken up even the steadiest, the most Buddha-like of us all. Throughout the past few months, this prayer, mantra, meditation has fallen in my lap way too many times not to want to continue to pass it along, especially on the cusp of a New Year!

Last Friday night, the Jackson Hole tram unveiling was AWESOME!! Laura and I had to work, but as soon as we got off we rushed down the the lower tram terminal to join in on the celebration. The resort had a live DJ, Nick Wilson’s was exploding at the doors with 24-ounce PBRs, and tram fever was in the air more than ever before! Going into this party I didn’t really know what to expect, but man did JHMR ever put in some work!

  • Living the liftie life - living in Jackson Hole

    By Chris | Posted 12/18/2008 | 1 Comment

Being a lift operator, aka a liftie, in Jackson Hole has surpassed all my expectations. I never thought this job would be so cool. Where do I even start? My first day was interesting, that’s for sure haha. I woke up at 5:45 to make the 6:15 bus to the village, it was pitch black out, and the snow had been coming down all night long. There were about 4 inches of fresh snow blanketed across the valley, and when I got to the resort I found out that there was even more snow there.

It is no secret that locals in a ski town often have two, sometimes three jobs at one time, but the misconception lies in the fact that the reason for multiple jobs always has to do with money! Often what comes along with the choice to live this unique lifestyle is the desire for a non- traditional work schedule. Locals just don’t always go for the M-F 9-5!

  • Big mountain job with big mountain benefits!

    By Chris | Posted 12/12/2008 | 1 Comment

As the season here in Jackson Hole starts to get going, the benefits of being a resort employee just keep coming and coming. After the company-wide orientation, the resort took us all to all over to the famous apres-ski hot spot, the Mangy Moose.

  • Your first ski season? Look forward to seeing big smiles, many and often!

    By Amy | Posted 12/10/2008 | 0 Comments

Every time I read a blog entry written by someone who has just recently moved to the mountains or meet someone that has just relocated to a ski town, their sheer joy reminds me of how my first year living in Wyoming completely exceeded my expectations of what I thought it was going to be like living in Jackson Hole. What had I been thinking waiting to move for so long!

  • Low key Salida, Colorado featured in the New York Times

    By Amy | Posted 12/08/2008 | 0 Comments

Not a locals favorite thing to see, their small mountain community, quiet little paradise featured in a major news publication, but this is not the first time Salida, Colorado has been featured and I couldn’t resist highlighting it myself after reading the article. It is informative for anyone searching for a small Rocky Mountain ski town and was written by a great writer who used to live in Jackson Hole, Rachel Odell Walker.
