Little to no snow, more eating … early season snow, more skiing. If you are a local resident in town for the holidays and not working, Thanksgiving Day will most likely be all about eating, skiing and (hopefully) being thankful. Although the actual meeting time for your holiday feast will often vary each year (dependent upon the current weather), the end result will inevitably stay the same … just a big ole party with family and good friends.
With many ski town locals living far away from extended family, the tendency through the years is to create an adopted family … that special group of friends that gathers together to celebrate the holidays … year after year. Fairly stress-free and incredibly fun. This year I am out of town, but from the looks of the reports and webcams this week, I can only imagine that a late start is in the cards for my regular Jackson Hole Thanksgiving Day clan.
As for some new Thanksgiving ski resort opening updates … Grand Targhee and Vail are now open, Aspen and Snowmass – November 22nd (Snowmass reporting 12” new snow), Big Sky and Sun Valley – November 24th.
Wherever you are this Thanksgiving, best wishes for a wonderful holiday!
