Ski resorts have begun to close this month for the season but not before some major partying takes place thanking the snow gods for this year’s record breaking snowfall.
The last day of the ski season in Jackson Hole (closed this past Sunday) seems to get a little wilder every year (or maybe it is just that I am getting little older and less wilder every year). I have enjoyed checking out The “Adventures of Rose” Blog and reading her take on the Jackson Hole scene as she is new to Jackson, has quickly embraced the lifestyle, the community and is having a great time.
Great season for Jackson Hole …
Season Total:605 inches
“For the first time in 42 winters, total snowfall at one of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort’s measuring stations surpassed 600 inches for the season.”
Steamboat Springs also closed this past weekend with a huge party and a record snowfall of 589 inches.
Season ends with a splash
“The Steamboat Ski Area shut the mountain down with music from The Radiators and then Susan Tedeschi, and hundreds of people in costumes and standard mountain wear filled the slopes and Gondola Square for the action.”
Vail closes this coming Sunday and is celebrating with a full week of events …
Spring Back to Vail.
Must be a good time there right now. Today’s Vail Daily reports,
“More than a foot of snow could fall on the Vail Valley between Wednesday morning and Thursday afternoon, according to a winter storm watch issued by the National Weather Service.”
The ski resorts may be closing, but for many locals the ski season is far from over.
