Teach Outdoor Education In Big Bear, California!

High Trails Outdoor Science School, a residential outdoor education program for elementary schools located in Big Bear City, California is hiring Instructors for the 2008/2009 school year.

Here is some more information that I pulled from their informative website …

The programs

“During the school year, High Trails is home to thousands of Southern California elementary students who come and stay a week with us, learning about nature, communities, and themselves. From Adventure Courses and Teambuilding to Plant Study and Astronomy, we do Outdoor Education in style!”

Location

”We’re at the middle of one of the most geographically diverse areas in the world. Camp is at 7,000 feet in the middle of the San Bernardino National Forest, a small mountain range. To the west is Los Angeles and the Pacific Ocean. To the north are the Sierra Mountains and Death Valley National Park. To the east is the Mojave Desert and Joshua Tree National Park. And to the south is Palm Springs and the Santa Rosa Mountains National Scenic Area.”

Students

”This last year we had more than 100 elementary schools and 9,000 students come join us in the mountains for 3, 4 and 5 weekday programs. Of our students, 75% of them are in the sixth grade, 20% are in the fifth grade, and 5% are from other grades.”
