Independently plan and provide profes sional nursing care for patientsin accordance with physician orders and established policies andprocedures. Provide nursing services to patients and families inaccordance with the scope of the RN as defined by the No rth CarolinaBoard of Nursing.

Work Performed

Plan, provide, supervise and document professional nursing careutilizing the n ursing process for patientsin accordance with physicianorders and establ ished policies and procedures. Use professional nursingjudgment to indiv idualize the plan of carebased on assessment of thepatient's baseline ne eds and response to care.Delegate tasks and supervise the activities of other licensed andunlicensed care providers.Assist other nursing personn el in the delivery of nursing care and actas team leader or charge nurse for a group ofpatientsor an entire unitas assigned.Monitor and initiate corrective action to maintain the environment ofcare including equipmen t and material resources.Participate in own professional development by maintaining requiredcompetencies, identifying learning needs and seeking appropriateassistanceor educational offerings.Act as preceptor and supp ort the development ofother staff and formallearners.Participate in the identification of clinical or operational performanceimprovement opportu nities and in performance improvement activities.Perform other related d uties incidental to t3>

Minimum Qualifications

Education

Work requires graduation from an accredited Associate's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program. All registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) are encouraged to enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date but must complete the BSN program within seven years of their start date.

Experience

Applicants must meet all requirements set forth by the DUHS Nursing Career Ladder Program for level III.

Degrees, Licensures, Certifications

Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. BLS required.
